Working to a timeline with a large group of people is never easy, especially when there's a lot of content to be created.
This new functionality will be all about making it really easy to manage your responsibilities within a project, as well as keeping tabs on the progress of a project as a whole. Really speeding things up for you and your team.
The features we'll be working on will likely cover: a better content calendar, improvements to notifications, some changes to roles and permissions - and speeding up approvals with things like shareable links or the ability to assign people to specific workflow steps.
Those are some of the things we're considering at the moment, but this is very much in the early discovery stages, so let us know what you would like to see.

This will be grateful! It would also be good to have a kind of filter that does not allow the workflow to continue if the person that is creating a task does not respect some parameters.

Hi everyone. It's been a busy yet exciting time for the team after the acquisition by Bynder earlier in the year, but we're back bringing a variety of improvements to GatherContent, the first of which you will have seen is the new account dashboard/projects view. This was built from the ground up on our new server-side rendering tech stack and by now you'll have experienced the performance benefits of this work, not to mention the new favouriting feature and simplified visual language.
As for today, I'm happy to announce we're making great progress on the long-awaited improvements to workflow. We are still on track to deliver the features we previously promised, including workflow step scheduling and default assignees.
I want to use this opportunity to outline what you can expect in the coming weeks as we begin to roll out these features:
The first change you'll see is our new workflow editor built on our new tech stack. The aim here is to deliver huge performance increases whilst maintaining existing feature parity and to set up the workflow editor ready for new features to be gradually added. This will also give you chance to become accustomed to the updated interface before we throw new features into the mix.
Shortly after you'll have the ability to set default assignees at the workflow level, as opposed to just assigning people to workflow steps on each item individually.
Next comes workflow scheduling. This will enable you to set default durations for workflow steps, automating due dates as items progress through their workflow.
Finally, multiple workflows. As you know, projects at the moment only have one workflow, but eventually, you'll be able to have more than one workflow per project to cater for the needs of different content types.
I'm looking forward to getting these updates into your hands and the team is working hard to make this happen as soon as possible. In the meantime, please feel free to reply with any questions.

"...or the ability to assign people to specific workflow steps." YES!!! I just added this feature request. For instance, a lawyer always reviews pages during the Legal Review step of our workflows. So it would be great to select multiple/every page and assign him/her to that specific step in the workflow for all selected pages.
If it would help, I could quickly wireframe how I envision this being managed! I'd love to help.

Ryan Smith: Hi Ryan. Sorry I missed your comment. I have just posted an update as to what you can expect in the coming weeks but I just wanted to respond to you directly. I've attached a screenshot of our new workflow editor, which is where default workflow assignees will be managed. Assigning people to workflow steps does exist currently, but only at an item level. (This is included in plans with the 'Advanced workflow' feature, including Scale and Transform. Talk to our awesome support team if you don't have this feature and would like advice on upgrading.) This update will bring this step assignment one level higher, which will then transcend to all items using that workflow, whilst also allowing for item-level step assignment as necessary. I'm glad you're looking forward to it! And sorry again for the delay.

Over the years this feedback request has morphed into covering all sorts of areas in both workflow and people management. This has made it difficult to not only manage the ticket itself, but also keep you up-to-date.
Moving forward, we'll be updating this request focussing on upcoming updates to workflow.
Coming soon, you'll have the ability to manage multiple workflows in a single project. This will allow you to manage different content types more effectively in your projects (plan availability TBC).
We have already carried out some work regarding assigning users to workflow steps inside an item (plans with Advanced workflow) - this next theme of work will involve being able to set those users by default at a workflow level.
On top of that we'll also be looking into a scheduling feature that will allow you to set default durations to workflow steps, which will then set due dates automatically when an items' status changes.

The ability to assign people to specific workflow steps so that:
+ people can mark their own task as complete and not touch any other workflow stages
+ people only get notifications for the step they're responsible for
+ editors/managers don't have to assign/reassign items at every step
+ individuals can easily see what step they're responsible for and when
