Hi everyone. Today we have rolled out general comments to all our users. Thank you so much for your help providing feedback on this feature. We're going to be allowing people to share feedback for a little while longer via the 'Give feedback' button at the bottom of the sidebar, so if you do have any thoughts on how it could be improved further, just answer the short survey and we'll take it all on board.
Thanks again and I hope you enjoy using general comments!

Hi everyone. Good news - you should now have access to general comments! You're our first selection of customers to have access to this feature, and as such we're asking people to give feedback via the 'Give feedback' button at the bottom of the sidebar. We already have plans to evolve the commenting sidebar, so any thoughts you can share will be greatly appreciated. We'll be monitoring feedback over the next couple of weeks.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the release, and thanks for your input so far.
If you can't see the general comments feature, just reply to me here and I'll get to the bottom of it.
Thanks.

James Peacock: Thank you! This is great news. One thing I noticed: when you leave a general comment on a page, there is no way of knowing that the comment is there when you're on the page. Something like a little number on the comment bubble icon might be really helpful to indicate that there is a comment there. Appreciate your efforts to accommodate us.

Robin Maylone: Good spot Robin. It's something we were aware of prior to release, but didn't want to delay it any further. Already on our list of to-dos, and I'm confident will be added before full rollout. Watch this space!

James Peacock: Awesome, James! Glad to know you guys are on it.

Hi everyone, I hope you're well. A quick note to say we're now rolling out our update to tabs. Some of you may have used them already, but those who haven't you'll see them when you next log into the app and view an item or its structure over the next day or so.
With tabs now out in the wild, it means we can carry on with general comments. We'd already made progress before we discovered tabs required some work, so we are now working full-steam ahead and expecting general comments to roll out in the next couple of weeks.
Thank you for your patience.

Hello! Thanks to everyone who took the time to take part in our tabs user test. The changes were overwhelmingly positive, with two clear themes that needed work – clicking on the tab name to rename, and making the 'New tab' button more clear – these have been addressed.
We'll be releasing our new tabs in a matter of days. You'll receive communication in-app once they are accessible. Our new tabs address some real issues with design consistency and navigation, and those of you who use lots of tabs will have a much nicer experience overall in both our structure and content editors.
Because of the work undertaken with tabs, the release I outlined previously has changed slightly. We will now be releasing general comments on their own in the sidebar, without the inclusion of inline, or 'content' comments. We took this approach so we can get general comments in your hands sooner, with a view to make the comment sidebar more powerful over time.
As always, you'll be the first to get your hands on general comments before we roll the feature out to all customers, and this will happen in the next couple of weeks.
I can't wait to get this hotly requested feature to you, and thank you for your patience whilst we make that happen.

Hi everyone, me again. As part of the work on general comments, we're also looking at updating our tabs in both the structure editor and content editor. The updated visual style of tabs lends itself nicely to the new sidebar work with general comments, and helps overcome some technical issues associated with our current 'floating' tabs.
We're currently running a usability test and would love for you to get involved. It's a relaxed affair, and you can do it from the comfort of your own computer without me standing over your shoulder.
If it's something you'd be interesting in helping with, you can access the test at this link: https://t.maze.design/11845270
It should take around 5-10 minutes of your time.
Thanks!

Hi everyone. I hope you're all staying safe. I just want to give a quick update on this.
General comments will be released in two stages:
The first will be the release of a commenting sidebar, which will be the home for all comments made on an item. Clicking a conversation will take you to the relevant content in the item, allowing you to action and respond to feedback quickly. Don't worry, inline comments aren't going anywhere.
The second stage will be the release of general comments themselves, which will also live in the sidebar under the 'General' tab.
Throughout these two release phases there'll be opportunity to give feedback specific to the feature, so I urge you to do so if you have any thoughts, both negative and positive! This will be in the form of a 'Give feedback' button.
You can expect to see stage one of this work in the next 2-3 weeks, with stage two rolling out a few weeks later, following feedback review and the squashing of any bugs.
Thanks!

Hi everyone, as of this week work has begun on this feature. We're still in the early stages but expect to see progress on this over the coming weeks. Again, thanks for your input, and more importantly, thanks for sticking with us.

I'm happy to announce that, as part of a whole host of improvements we're going to be making to our authoring experience in the product, general comments will be included as part of that work. Specific details are yet to be confirmed, but expect some big improvements to commenting on both content and items in the near future. Thanks to everyone for your input on this so far.
