Keep comments and content after changing the page template

When we change the template assigned to a page, the comments and content on that page will currently disappear. This is an issue as we need to keep a record of the client's comments.
Would be great to be able to switch templates without losing comments and content please.

Yes! It would be super helpful when switching templates to have the ability to map fields from one template to another. In some cases, our templates are almost identical, just with one or two fields different. So it would be super helpful to be able to switch templates with an option to map the fields.
