Control if you notify people when you change status

I want to control who I notify and who I don't notify when I change the workflow status from an item. Sometimes I would prefer to notify no-one and this is not possible!

Here's the help docs which show how the updated functionality works 👍

This used to be a feature, so annoying that it was taken away!

I second this request. The old version worked perfectly well!

Want to be able to remove assigned users from workflow status notifications (padlock)

We work with an internal and an external team throughout an item's lifecycle. Both sets of users are assigned to an item throughout. But we don't want to send notifications of our internal workings to our external team through the process.
As updating statuses within items is the only way we can leave messages for our internal members, we want to be able to de-select assigned users (padlock) from the 'notify and complete' function. They can be populated automatically there as assignees, but we want to be able to remove them if needed.

Agreed. Being able to do this featured in the "upgrade now! great new features!" video last year. So we upgraded. And turns out you can't yet.

I agree! It's annoying that whoever is assigned to the status HAS to get a notification every time the status is changed. Our writers are being flooded with unnecessary notifications when a status is changed.

Hi Ali Amoroso, thanks for the feedback.
This sounds like a bug to me, are you saying that you receive an e-mail notification when you move an item that you're assigned to, to a different workflow status? This definitely isn't intended!
Ali Amoroso
Benjamin Hawkyard: Yes! That is what was happening. Every. Single. Time. But it seems that you have gone in and fixed it. My name is no longer showing up as locked to receive workflow changes for topics I'm assigned to. Thank you. Though I would still like to be able to control which of the other assigned contributors get the notifications because someone needs to be assigned to it but doesn't need an email for each change.

Ali Amoroso: Perfect! I'm glad we've solved one half of the issue anyway.
By default we automatically notify those who are assigned to the item because we believe that they would be the ones who'd want to know about the status change the most – I would love to hear more about your use-case though!

Benjamin Hawkyard: Side note, in noticing how when I hit reply it automatically tags you, will that feature be integrated into comments in the projects? I've noticed that if a colleague replies to one of my comments it only sends it to me if they tag me (which makes sense) but it isn't set up to default a tag like this is.
To our earlier discussion, sometimes I have multiple people working on a piece of content who are not needed for every workflow stage. For example, I may have someone who is involved in initial drafts and internal review who needs to be emailed about deadlines, but then when it comes to second drafts and final edits, a different team member handles that, but that first team member still needs the publication notice at the very end of our workflow. With the way it's currently set up I would have to be constantly going back and forth about who is or who is not assigned to a piece of content rather than being able to edit that when I'm changing stages. Does that make sense?
